Don't let the man hold you down, unless it's kinky

Wed Sep 7, 2005, 8:23 AM
Society, or culture or whatever you want to call it is a monster of a system that is without complete control and is an organism completely independent of any kind of rule system minus the world of communication which influences it's effect on the 6 billion of us the inhabit this tiny planet. Society is everything from the world around us, the self-sustaining economy, the social mores that regulate our conduct, the information that is passed ritually and ceremoniously from generation to generation, perception that is learned(Everything we sense is relative to other senses and what knowledge we have at any given moment). Society is a little bastard, it does provide for a managable means of support and existance for everyone and it in fact encourages a normality to help keep it together and not fall into chaos. I'm not leading to a point of where I dislike society, in fact, in a competitive sense it allows myself and others (everyone in reality) to push on it's constrictive bonds and achieve new levels of success due to the fact that it keeps a standard, normality that a majority of people ahere to. It sounds greedy, but it's great. I love how people keep to schedules, how people seek comfort in monotony, how people are taught everything known about life from society (from hard knowledge to things like choice and perception, which in the truest sense of their words are actually inhibited by the idea of an adjective rather than simple existance). Straying too far or pushing the envelope has it's obvious consequences from the ill will of the majority to solid things like imprisonment or fines. There comes the fun part, an exhiliration from simply riding the line of becoming so deviant to society that it rejects you, but pushing just enough that staying out the majority provides one with the simple benefit of being unique or as unique as one could possibly be in a world of six billion people. To even begin to know of the way it holds everyone back is the actual meaning to become conscious incompetent of one's own shortcomings from the state of blissful, society-imposed ignorance. I'm not saying I know shit about breaking past it's bonds, I'm just saying I'm becoming more aware of how it holds people back. Sure you think, how is it holding people back if you can just break away from it and consider in new lights? Alter your reality, no fucking problem. For some people it might be as easy as starting a car (learned perception right there, I cited an example of a societal idea placed in my head subconciously). For myself though and I sure as hell know a lot of other people don't even bother to do things like question authority. I implore those of you who have read this far: Question authority, envision where your perception of the world came from and if you can, please try to poke a bit the seems that hold your reality together. You can change, trust me and you can use it too. Don't be held back, your life is yours, trust me.

Your tool of the machine,

Nick
